Music Club Resources

The chords described in BigMarker sessions are shown below, arranged by key. Songs that have been researched for key and pattern are listed. Most are available on YouTube. Only the sequences described in the BigMarker series are shown. Ukulele is limited and one-finger chords are not possible in all keys.  The finger positions in light colors are optional – they can be played with open strings.

It doesn’t matter if you actually know (or like) any of these songs as the purpose here is merely to practice strumming along. Most of these songs have 4 chords but many can be played with 3 chords, some merely with open strings. Most of them follow a familiar I-IV-V or I-vi-IV-V sequence so once you can play a few by ear the rest will be easy. It then becomes a simple change to progress to the contemporary I-V-vi-IV.

The main thing is to just listen for the chord changes in the songs so that you get a feel for the sounds and can play along by ear.

My patented backing tracks will be available on the courses run through OpenLearning. The OpenLearning courses are intended for those who want to pursue the method in more depth and hopefully engage others in their teaching, therapy, training and community work.

The guitar and ukulele charts below refer to my own one-finger chords. Clearly, if you can play the full traditional chords they would fit better. However, the purpose of Music Club is to have a common denominator so that you can get others to participate quickly. Many beginners will have enough on their plate trying to do the one-finger chords in time with these pop songs.

  1. I am sorry for off-topic, I’m thinking about creating an instructive website for young students. Will probably start with submitting interesting information such as”By raising your legs slowly and lying on your back, you cannot sink into quicksand.”Please let me know if you know where I can find some related facts such as right here
